現在でも江戸時代当時の趣を伝えており、島原の由緒を伝える地域の文化財として貴重である。
江戸期の島原開設当初から、饗宴もてなしの文化の場である揚屋建築。
現在でも営業を続ける、一見さんお断りの置屋兼お茶屋。
